"January" Rain Song

(Read this poem. It is so awesome! I love it!!)
April Rain Song

Let the rain kiss you
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops
Let the rain sing you a lullaby
The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk
The rain makes running pools in the gutter
The rain plays a little sleep song on our roof at night
And I love the rain.

When The Sun Comes After Rain

When the sun comes after rain
And the bird is in the blue,
The girls go down the lane
Two by two.
When the sun comes after shadow
And the singing of the showers,
The girls go up the meadow,
Fair as flowers.
When the eve comes dusky red
And the moon succeeds the sun,
The girls go home to bed
One by one.
And when life draws to its even
And the day of man is past,
They shall all go home to heaven,
Home at last.

Spring Rain
Spring rain
leaking through the roof
dripping from the wasps' nest.

The Rain
I hear leaves drinking rain;
I hear rich leaves on top
Giving the poor beneath Drop after drop;
'Tis a sweet noise to hear
These green leaves drinking near.
And when the Sun comes out,
After this Rain shall stop,
A wondrous Light will fill Each dark,
round drop; I hope the Sun shines bright;
'Twill be a lovely sight.

Rain
I opened my eyes
And looked up at the rain,
And it dripped in my head
And flowed into my brain,
And all that I hear as I lie in my bed
Is the slishity-slosh of the rain in my head.
I step very softly,
I walk very slow,
I can't do a handstand--
I might overflow,
So pardon the wild crazy thing I just said--
I'm just not the same since there's rain in my head.

Shel Silverstein

(If you read any of these poems read this one! BEAUTIFUL!!)
The Rain
All night the sound had
come back again,
and again falls
this quite, persistent rain.
What am I to myself
that must be remembered,
insisted upon
so often? Is it
that never the ease,
even the hardness,
of rain falling
will have for me
something other than this,
something not so insistent--am I to be locked in this
final uneasiness.
Love, if you love me,
lie next to me.
Be for me, like rain, the getting out
of the tiredness, the fatuousness, the semi-lust of intentional indifference.
Be wet
with a decent happiness.

I have always loved that Langston Hughes poem. It was in a children's book of poems I had when I was little. The Robert Creeley one is beautiful too. I don't recall having read it, yet it seems familiar. Anyway, the photos were just right for the words! Love the green of the jacket mixed with the red of the umbrella and the giraffe pattern on the boots. Very sweet!

Kamee, did you buy that red umbrella JUST for photoshoots?? It can't rain that much in Sunny California...

I need some of those boots for me - we could all use those here in PA. Gunnar is at cutie!! I loved the first and last poem and how could I not love Silverstein.. I think I really do have rain in my brain - that would explain why I can't do handstands.. :)

No I love your blog. And I love those boots, they are a crack-up. Shel Silverstein is such a great poet. And I LOVE the last poem. Love ya Kam and your darling family. Gunnar is a great sport, my kids do silly things when I try to take pictures of them.
