Halloween Pre-Show: Some Gunnie Funnies

Some background to the story...
in our playroom there is an easle full of paints and markers. Keep that in mind...
Gunnar loves to dress-up. It is super fun and I love how creative and imaginative he gets. For Halloween he is going to be...of course...a pirate, but he currently has a fascination with Harry Potter. He likes to pretend he is Harry, I am Hermione, Bobby is Ron, and Larkin fills in where we need her. The other day we ran to Joann's to get some things (I am making Larkin a Halloween tu-tu...pictures to follow...) While we were there we found some Harry Potter glasses and a wand. I knew we were not leaving the store without them; however, they worked as great bribery while we were there; he was a star child. When we got home he wanted to play Harry Potter. I was working on some picture stuff but told him to get dressed and by that time I would be ready to play. I heard some rustling in the the playroom; when I saw him the sound from the playroom made perfect sense.
He finished off the costume with a custom "lightening bolt" scar.
Those of you with more than one child know what it is like when the second comes along. There isn't as much of you for the first one any more. Gunnar has been fine and really hasn't shown that much heartache at not having his parents all to himself, but I still am trying to give him a little bit of time each day that is just his.
Before the baby came Jaren was able to get our grass in the backyard. It is awesome!! We all love being out there. In fact we might bbq all through the winter. ;) The other day while the baby was sleeping Gunnar and I got back there to run some races, pretend we picking pumkins at the pumpkin patch, and fly airplanes. He was so giddy to be outside. The weather was gorgeous, but the time chatting with him and laughing together was even better.
We wrestled a bit too; it felt good to be able to do that again.
I love his expression in the first picture, so used-car salesmanish.
I have shared this before, but I am feeling the sentiment again. I feel sometimes like my children and their youth is slipping from my fingers. I put Gunnar to bed at night and in the morning he has grown an inch and has 10 new vocab words. Larkin is only 3 weeks old but has grown and changed so much already. This time with them is something I can never replace. Even though it fades so quickly the moments and memories we create will last forever. Gunnar and Larkin, I love you both so much!!

He is so precious. The scar is awesome! I'm a little jealous at your BBQ'ing "through the winter" but enjoy that yard! Such a blessing with little ones.
